How can I avoid login screen in Windows XP?

I am running Windows XP Home Edition.

I am the administrator, and there are no other users accounts.

I am accustomed to booting up my computer and immediately seeing my
desktop, without having to go through a login screen.

However, yesterday, after installing a new program (which I suspect is
ill-behaved), I find that every time I boot up (or even after my
screen saver goes on), I am presented with a login screen which asks
me to click on my user name. I find this annoying.

Can anyone tell me how I can revert to my earlier configuration, in
which I am automatically logged in and go directly to my desktop,
without being presented with a login screen? I have looked through
Control Panel / User Accounts, but I don't see anything there that
specifically addresses this question.

Incidentally, I don't think I have ever set a password for my login
name.
