Having the firewall (Windows XP firewall) on WILL affect File and Printer
sharing, to a point that it doesn't work. Admittedly, having a corporate
firewall will not, as long as you are both behind it, but if you have the
Windows XP firewall on, you will not be able to share files unless you turn
it off or configure it to allow File & Printer sharing.

That should get you going.. You will, as I stated, have to disable simple
file sharing (should be done if you are a member of a domain and not a
workgroup) and make sure either your Windows XP INTERNAL firewall is off or
configured for File & Printer sharing.
