You will need to create accounts with same names and passwords on each
machine. Make sure you keep the passwords in sync. Windows will
authenticate with the same credentials and it will match up the same name
account on the other machine.

Yes this is a lot of work, especially if the network grows. This is why
domains are useful.

If this is a business and you plan on growing, you might want to consider
Small Business Server 2003 - a reasonably priced version of Windows Server
that is aimed at small enterprises.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/default.mspx It will let
you set up a domain, for example. Depends on your situation and budget :)
