That's happened to me as well. I am using an XP system that that is
occuring on. I originally attributed it to a bug in Windows Explorer.
Windows Explorer has many many bugs it seems, because I can
use Search to find a bunch of hidden files that are not visible when
I go into the Internet Options or when I use Windows Explorer to
navigate to the IE Temporary Internet Files. I tend to find these
files when I switch my logon name.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, specifically in getting rid
of these annoying things like when I use Windows Explorer to view
the Fonts folder and other folders. I'm thinking someone at Microsoft
will come back and say this is "By Design". If it is, please publish that
fact when the OS is installed, because I'd really not like to deal with
DLLCache, Temp IE files that don't disappear and things that don't
look right when I try to use Windows Explorer to browse XP
systems.

Hello All,
I am not to concerned about this problem but I was going through my
Local Settings\Temporary Internet Folders and deleting all of the files with
in the folders. Initially, all was going well. Everything was deleting and
it would prompt me to delete the desktop.ini file and everything. Somehow,
as I was trying to move ahead faster I managed to use a hot-key combination
that selected all of the files and then tried to open them. This,
naturally, caused all kinds of performance issues and I had to reboot my
machine. Once the machine came back I saw that all of the sub-folders
within Temporary Internet Folders had been deleted and what was left was a
smattering of various stuff left behind. I then tried to delete those files
and nothing happens. I select one, press delete and my pc makes a "dooo"
sound and nothing happens. These are just .gif's and .jpg's as well as a
few other misc files. Does anyone have any idea why this is? Could I be
dealing with some type of virus or Trojan?
Also, when I attempt to open one of these gif's I am given an Internet
Explorer box that asks me "Running a system command on this item might be
unsafe. Do you wish to continue?" Its a .gif file. Why the sudden concern
about safety?
Thanks for your help in advance. I look forward to your responses.
Keith
