Do not encourage them. Do not go to a site
that "requires" popups. It is poor design on their part
and they should not be patronized. Also do not go to sites
that require flash. That one program is responsible for
more animated aggravations than any other... Disable it
and steer clear of the sites that are completely based in
it.
If you must, reset all the IE setting to default and start
over. I use the google toolbar to kill popups, as was
said a ctrl or alt or something would allow them for one
site. I turn off all activex and scripting in IE. I
disable all cookies unless on a site that I log into.
I get 0 popups, 0 animations, 0 sounds, no cursor changes,
almost no spyware. I installed webwasher to pull the adds
of the pages. All in all my web is pretty commercial
free...
