I had the Blaster worm and had a 'repairman' come and reformat it. I couldn't get past the MS Administrator/Owner password window (which btw I had never had to deal with before..just logged on.) Lousey job, he just ran the cds that came with my HP Notebook(did get past the pw page tho), so I still had remaining problems. My boss ran through the same routine just hoping that would fix things. No luck, so HP was called and the tech walked him through obtaining the Blaster Worm removal tool AND the patch. The tech said after running the Removal Tool, to run it a second time, and then run the patch. Did you put up a firewall??? Go to the control panel and click on Network Connections, right click on the type of connection you use to get online and go to Properties, then click on the Advanced tab and you will see Internet Connection Firewall and click the box if it is empty and that will give you some protection from Worms and Viruses. You should reboot after doing this so the changes will take place. My
notebook works now, but I've lost scan disk and a photo program to date....there might be other things that I haven't discovered yet. But I think the Worm did that before realized I had it and before I ran the Removal Tool and patch. Hope I was of some help. Have you called Dell about the remaining problems????
