Installing Window XP service pack 1a

I have Window XP Home edition on my computer and I want to
upgrade it to XP Professional. I was told that I need to
have Window XPSP 1a before I can upgrade it. I bought the
service pack 1a and installed and I encounter with an
Service Pack 1 Setup error "Set up could not verify the
integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the
Cryptographic service is running on this computer". Please
advice. Thanks. The computer I have is a Toshiba Laptop
S25-S507.
