I have used XP Home like one time. From what I know, the simple file sharing
can not be changed which would leave only ntfs permissions to control
access. Since I do not have a XP Home machine, I am not sure to what extent
ntfs can be configured as far as custom user groups, etc. I thought, but I
may be wrong, that you could at least configure specific users and/or built
in groups to have necessary ntfs permissions. If the everyone group is
removed and there are no other entries for users then of course no one would
be able to gain access [without taking ownership] but I thought you could
add specific users or built in groups such as administrators or power users.
Hopefully someone that knows for sure will set me straight on ntfs
permissions with XP Home. --- Steve
