Email not working in Microsoft Outlook

Hello. I'm a complete novice and don't know what's
happening here. For about a week I can't send or recieve
emails. Using Microsoft Outlokk. The send/recieve goes up
to about 34% and stays there. I get a warning from my anti-
virus that two viruses are in some emails that are trying
to get in. I have had numerous emails from the same person
before but like I say the anti-virus finds them. Is it
something to do with the viruses? Because that has never
stopped me recieving emails before.
