Alcinas;
Background Intelligent Transfer Service
[Uses idle network bandwidth to transfer data.
*If you have disabled "Automatic Updates" service, you won't need this service running.]
[In theory this should be a useful service, especially since it can continue an
interrupted download due to a logoff or shutdown situation. Unfortunately, it can also be
prone to trouble when the resumption occurs. See the KB article listed in Notes section.]
====
Have a look at this:
Update Available for the Background Intelligent Transfer Service

[When a computer that is running any of the following operating systems with Internet
options set to "Always dial my default connection" is upgraded to Windows XP, the
Background Intelligent Transfer service remains in the "Connecting" state when you try to
transfer a file:
Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)
Microsoft Windows 98
Microsoft Windows 95]

I have Automatic Updates disabled. I also have Background Intelligent Transfer Service
disabled with no side affects that I know of.
