It should work on XP Home or Pro. Click Start, Run and enter MSCONFIG Go
to the BOOT.INI tab. Check the /SAFEBOOT option and Ok your way out. This
forces the system to boot into Safe Mode on the next reboot. Simply go back
in and uncheck the box while in Safe Mode to restore the normal boot.
