Allows you to enable or disable Task Manager for the Current User

Disable/Enable the Task Manager (WinXP Home)
This setting controls the ability for users to start Task Manager and view
processes, running applications and make changes to the priority or state of
the individual processes.
1. Start>Run>regedit
2. Locate the key below:
User Key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
]
Value Name: DisableTaskMgr
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = default, 1 = disable Task Manager)
Create a new DWORD valued named "DisableTaskMgr" and set it to "1" to
disable Task Manager and "0" to Enable Task Manager

Basically the Values mean:
1=Enable this key, that is DISABLE TaskManager
0=Disable this key, that is Don't Disable, Enable TaskManager

You may need to log off for the changes to take effect.

Note you can save the registry key first by:
On the File menu, click Export.
In the File name box, type SaveKey, and then click Save.
Or create a system restore point prior to editing.
Note: If the registry key is not there, you can simply create one by going
edit > new.

Disable/Enable the Task Manager (WinXP Pro)
To enable WinXP Pro's TaskManager using Group Policy Editor. This can be
applied to the local policy.
1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Enter gpedit.msc in the Open box and click OK
4. In the Group Policy settings window
    .select User Configuration
    .select Administrative Templates
    .select System
    .select Ctrl+Alt+Delete options
    .select Remove Task Manager
    .double-click the Remove Task Manager option
Since the policy is Remove Task Manager, by disabling the policy, you are
enabling the Task Manager.
