Cannot not log on as administrator

I cannot log on to my computer as the administrator. My wife and I have
rights but cannot use our log ons. All we get is our desktop pictures.
Nothing else just the picture of our desktop. No start button, icons, task
bar or sys tray. I can use my kid's log on. But he is not an administrator
so I cannot update virus the virus scanner and I cannot get to my files (
really have to do my shcool work).

Can someone help me?
