Hi! I was surfing the Internet with my laptop, when all
in a sudden I had lot of Ads appearing on a website. I
decided to go on a website to get a freeware software for
Pop-Up stopper. When I installed the software, I message
appeared, and it was saying that there was an error, and
the computer would've shut down in 20 seconds. I read
about the Blaster Worm, so I knew already that there
must've been a worm. I wanted to try something. So,
before the computer would've shut down, I opened the Task
Manager mean while there was a couple of seconds left. On
the Task Manager, I clicked on LOG OFF! I logged on
again, I went to the Control Panel, Add or Remove
Programs, and I removed the Pop-Up stopper. Mean while I
was removing it, it was shutting down again. When I
finished the unistallation, I went on Disk cleanup, and I
found out that the worm doesn't only stay on the HKEY
root, but on the Temporary Internet Files folder as well.
I removed the Blaster Worm, without any use of Softwares.
If you get infected try what I done. My operating system
by the way is Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (I'm
using a laptop).
