NO,
Even with a firewall enabled and an always on anti-virus, you
are not safe in every part of the Internet. There are many websites
downloading Viruses and/or Spyware, keyloggers and Trojans into your
computer when you only visit their web pages. Below is the address of
a
website that put a virus into my computer when I was only visiting
their web page:
-------
http://www.britney-spears-hot-pics.com/biggest_photo_gallery_britany_s
pears_13.htm
Using McAfee and IE6 I get the following....
11/10/2003 10:49:47 AM Deleted D:\temp\TemporaryInternet
Files\Content.IE5\Y1SJU525\britney-spears-hot-pics[1].htm\000061d5.js
- JS/Seeker.t
------
Also, do not open files and programs from any website. Some of
them want you to install a program to be able to visit their pages.
Many porn sites put tracking cookies and Sexplorers inside your
computer.
To have the best security when surfing the web use an always-on
updated Anti-Virus, a firewall (ZoneAlram is my choice) and set
your IE security setting to at least "Medium". Also, do not open
or download files from any web site. If you are using XP pro, try to
disable
"Messenger Service" By downloading and installing Ad-Aware 6.0 from
lavasoft:
http://lavasoft.element5.com/software/adaware/
Also you should install all Windows updates to keep safe surfing.
---------
All the best
