Autoupdate behavior is controlled within the System
Properties (r-click properties of My Computer)
In the services applet (services.msc) you can set
these both down to Manual, and this will prevent
Autoupdate from initiating anything without your
having triggered it, such as by selecting the Windows
Update selection in the Start Menu. If you set to
disabled you cannot even do this manual triggering.
