Safe Mode

Help, Help.

My PC(XP) had a virus. I started safe mode and then
proceeded to delete the invected files, but now I cant
seem to get out of safe mode. Whenever I try and untick
the option box in system restore tab, it tells me that
this can only be done whilst not in safe mode - please
help before I take a hammer to this machine. GGRRRRR.

    ... the virus has put an icon on the desk top that says "window xp anti-virus ... now i have got the copmuter in safe mode and have sorted out all the stuff ... need to do it while the computer is still in safe mode (cant do anything ... other computer is window vista. ...
