Log on user name confusion

I am a new XP user. Recently on my wifes machine Word and
Excel files,upon opening,have thrown up an erroe tyhat
describes as though it has been opened twice. Her user
name is JudyRoss. What it says is that JudyRoss is
already using this file.
I have checked all options and preferences in Word etc. I
have checked user accounts and she is the only one and
therefore has admin rights. What I have found, and this
is in the Sytem info app is the description of her
username as JUDYROSS/JudyRoss. I have checked the namimg
of her user name in the user accounts control. All it
shows is Judy Ross. Can someone help me please.
