I'm the only Administrator/User of my Win XP Home. For a long time, I used
<User1> for my identity and everything was fine. Then, inadvertently in the
Safe mode, I somehow added another identity. Miraculously, it is not listed
on the Welcome screen and in the User Accounts, but a folder for
<User1.YOURxxx> with a bunch of subfolders was created and is nested in the
Documents and Settings. I do not like it, but could live with it.
However, and this is my presumption, when this new folder was created by the
system, all my files (documents, pictures, etc.) disappeared... I hope they
were not deleted or erased, but are hidden somewhere and are not visible,
although hide files is unchecked.
So my theory is: if I can "return" to my original identity, then old files
will show up again.
May someone please instruct me (preferably step-by-step) on how to retrieve
my old identity? I still use <User1>, but my folder in Documents and
Settings is empty. Any suggestion is appreciated.
