You don't say if you're running XP Home or XP Pro. XP Pro includes the
Group Policy Editor, but on a stand alone computer, these restrictions are
machine wide, not per user. XP Home does not include the Group Policy
Editor, but the Registry can be edited manually to enforce various
restrictions. www.winguides.com is a good source for the Registry
modifications. You can also see www.dougknox.com, Win XP Tips, Advanced
Registry editing for instructions that will make modifying multiple user
profiles easier.
And last but not least, I am developing a new utility that will allow you to
apply a number of the settings found in the Group Policy Editor, on a per
user basis in XP Home or Pro. It should be available from my web site, Win
XP Utilities section in the next day or two. If you're interested in being
notified when this utility is posted, send an e-mail to
feedback@dougknox.com, with the subject Windows XP Security Console.
