download history still shows failed

Can anyone explain to me: when a download failed (from a
service pack usually) and I went back to individually
download each Q______ or 32____ , why does my history
still list it as failed? I downloaded, clicked open to
install at that time, it's listed on my computer as
installed, but still shows as failed. Also is there a
way to click from the history list to re-do the download?
