Have you tried disabling netbios over TCP/IP? By
uninstalling Windows Messenger, you have shot the
messenger, and not the sender.
Local Area Connection/TCPIP/Properties
Advanced/WINS/NetBIOS setting
Click radio button on Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP
Click on the OK's, closes, and other affirming buttons
(you may have to reboot the system).
