Does it follow that if NetBEUI is not installed, and one is using TCP/IP
for the LAN, then NetBIOS must be left connected to TCP/IP in order to
enable file and printer sharing?

I had had NetBEUI installed, using it for the LAN (I am running Win XP
Pro on two computers, and Win 98 on a third networked computer), but the
dual protocols seemed to cause problems. I uninstalled the NetBEUI and
am not running only TCP/IP. I rely on the hardware firewall in my DSL
router, and the Norton Internet Security and each of the computers for
protection.
