changing administrator password

I have never set an administrator password or logged on
as the admin. So I wanted to check it out and make sure
the account works in case I need it. At boot up I hit
ctrl-alt-del twice, typed in administrator, left the
password blank, and it says it can't log me in. I went
to Local Security Settings to make sure event logging was
turned off on all events.

So it looks like my only choice is to change the admin
password. I typed lusrmgr.msc, selected, users,
adminstrators, and when I go to change the password it
gives me this warning:
"This user account will immediately lose access to all of
its encrypted files, stored passwords, and personal
security settings."

I have no encrypted files so that isn't a problem. But
will changing this password effect security settings or
passwords for any of my other accounts that have admin
rights?

Thank you.
