Here is what I did with the same problem.
1) Once the system boots up to your desktop, give it the
old "three finger salute" (Ctrl + Alt +Del)
2)go to services and scroll down to msblast.exe.
3) Select msblast.exe and end process.
This will give you time to go to
http://www.symantec.com/downloads/
and down load the removal tool and link to the patch down-
load site (Microsoft).
