John,
If you only have one user, you will probably want to
consider creating seperate users for individual users.
You can give yourself administrator rights and others
restricted use of the computer. An administrator you
will have full control over the machine to include
locking out others at will. A nice benifit of having
seperate user accounts is that everyone can customize
their own user settings like desktop wallpaper and
maintain seperate My Documents and other folders.
Go to your start menu and select Control Panel. Double
click on User Accounts and there you can make changes to
any user or create additional users. If you decide that
you want to take user privelidges away from someone,
simply come back to the User Accounts section and change
their password to prevent further access. With your
account having Administrator privelidges, you don't even
have to know their password to change theirs. You pretty
well have full control over the machine.
Good Luck!
