The easiest way to find the answer to your question is to type alg.exe into
a search engine and see what results. Doing this with Google led me to the a
page from the PC Magazine web site. Here is their answer:
FILENAME: Alg.exe.
PROGRAM NAME: Application Layer Gateway.
DESCRIPTION: Part of Windows XP that provides support for ICS and Internet
Connection Firewall (ICF).
