How can I tell that the blaster patch is installed without having to go to the w

I assist a number of new computer users to get up and
started with their computers. In the wake of the Blaster
worm debarcle, I now download the blaster worm patch for
all of my customers and install it on their machines,
because the Windows XP systems which are sold in the shops
are two years out of date and obviously don't have the
blaster worm patch included. I know this because every
computer that I set up for a client, I check out by
running the critical update patches from the Windows
update site, and without fail, the list of patches given
to me on the site to install, is the number of Windows XP
patches and service packs released over the last two
years. Once these packs have been installed, the scan from
the site shows that the patches are actually installed.

It is obvious that the manufacturers of computers are
going to address themselves to installing the blaster worm
patch on computers which are delivered to merchants in the
future.

My question is this: if I get a client's computer to set
up, how can I tell whether or not the blaster worm patch
has been installed on it before?

Thanks.

Michael
