My WinXP laptop just crashed and I had a local computer
shop help me. They were able to restore XP, but I cannot
access my data files. The HDD is large, so I partitioned
it (Partition Magic) into several drives. The computer
shop imaged the data drives and restored the partitions
after reinstalling XP. The problem now is I
get "dirveletter:/ not available. Access denined" when
ever I try to access a file or directory. I have tried
loging on as the Administrator (via Safe Mode) and looking
at the Security Settings. I have added the Administrator
with full control rights, but the "Special Permissions"
box remains greyed out. Additionally, there are
several "unknown accounts" listed. How can the
Administrator not get all permisions? What do I do?
