Compaq PC does not power up after install of XP Patch1

Hi,
My Compaq PC does not power up after I installed XP Patch
1. I did this after Upgrading my Win ME to XP. I even
had Norton Antivirus installed. All my installs ran fine
and I was told to reboot after Patch 1 install. Now I
can't even turn on my PC. Is this a virus (or is my power
supply blown?) My PC power lights comes on for a split
second every other time. Most time my PC does not even
power up.
Help.
