as emphasized at least a dozen times before on this newsgroup, this is
NOT a solution. It still leaves your PC open to the world, except that
you shut down the early warnings. The only secure solution to the
popups, worms and hackers is to enable the builtin, free firewall that
comes with your WinXP. (or a third-party firewall in case you use AOL)
Please refer to Taurarian's reply, from which I quote below:
| Enable or Disable Internet Connection Firewall in Windows XP
| http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;283673
| NB: AOL is not compatible with Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall
| (ICF)
| If you have AOL, you should contact AOL and/or get a 3rd party
| firewall.
