all icons disappear after installed SP1

Hi..
Recently i have just installed SP1 and after that all my
icons disappears from the desktop. Then i tried to run
Recovery from WinXP CD-ROM. When comes to the step
asking for administrator password, then i type in the
password but after it keeps saying password is invalid.

Does anyone know how to fix it? I find one article
Q308402 in MS Knowledge base. I followed the steps
listed but the problem still exist.
