Hi,
I rencently applied Windows XP SP1a from the tech net
CD's to a IBM thinkpad with Windows XP Professional.
Now the system continuously restarts.
It comes up with a graphical Windows XP screen, then
changes to a blank screen with a flashing cursor in the
top left corner and then after about 5 seconds the system
restarts and does it again.
Also happens in safe mode and last known good.
Only article that I can find suggusted to restore
kernel32.dll in recovery console. Tried that and it did
not help. I only restored a kernel32.dll from a windows
XP Pro SP1 disk. Should I try restoring a kernel32.dll
form an old XP Pro disk (ie Not SP1).
Last entry in ntbtlog.txt reads
Loaded Driver \systemroot\system32\drivers\cdfs.sys
when bootlogged startup option choosen.
As far as I can see there is no way to uninstall SP1a
unless you can get windows to start.
What can I try from here?
Is the last entry listed in the ntbtlog.txt file the
cause of the problem?
Thanks
Warren
