I have been dealing with Microsoft tech support for 3
weeks. Last night I was on the phone for 2+ hours with
Brian from Tech Support I believe we tried basically
all the suggestions you list and finally he had me
download MS 03-026 and ie6setup.exe to my hard drive and
then install each offline. That worked. But when I tried
to do windows updates after that each installation I
tried failed. I can not install anything while online.

The message is "the following item failed to install" for
2 different items... 823559 and 823718.

If I could find the security updates in the download
section I would download them to my harddrive and then do
the installation off line. However I shouldn't have to do
that.
