jonnin and jupiterjones re: boot up password

Thank you both for your help, but, I have fixed the
problem by removing the little battery inside the laptop
(and the main li-ion battery) for approximately 10
minutes. After I put the laptop back together and started
her up, no more password prompt! yay. And only one screw
left over!
JUPITERJONES...I only used two passwords before I started
playing with things I shouldn't. I did not forget them,
neither of them worked.
JONNIN...it looked like the 80's colored text etc. I have
an NEC Versa SX. When you start it, it shows an NEC
window where you have several seconds to choose either
esc for boot up messages and F2 for set up. When you
enter set up (80's looking screen) you have several
choices 2 cmos (one advanced), two others I don't recall
right now, security settings and the default setting.
Clicking on default caused my problem, it may have been
the password of the person who installed the OS.
