I had the same problem on my XP/PRO desktop PC (which
I "hack" quite often) but wrote it off as my own doing
until my laptop (XP/Home) started doing the same thing
(and I rarely change settings on it, but do keep up with
patches, etc).
I recently had to reinstall XP/PRO from scratch on the
desktop and so far explorer has been stable ... but sorry,
I have no explanation or fix.
