registry greater than symbol

I'm in the process of tweaking an XP image, and am
eliminating unwanted registry stubpaths. Does anyone know
why I'd find identical GUIDs - that is identical except
for the greater than (>) symbol in front of one? The
contents of the keys (GUIDS) are different between the two.
