Steven,

You will have to reboot into safe mode.. This will then allow you to change
the access to all of the computer.

Find the files you want to change access to and then right click on them in
windows explorer and then click on the security tab.

(This security tab is not available in normal operating mode that is why you
have to reboot into safe mode.)

Next you will see a tab called take ownership, select it, choose your user
logon and click ok.
If you can't see your logon use the advanced button then choose find now,
this will list all of your user logons. Be careful not to
change system access.

As usual Bill Gates doesn't make it absolutely clear what that check box
about child permissions is but with mine I choose it and it
works fine.

Goodluck
