File Sharing Between Domain and Workgroup

At the office my laptop joins a domain called DOMAIN. When
I bring it home, I don't have a domain, just a workgroup
called WORKGROUP. If I go into another WinXP machine on in
WORKGROUP and share a "personal" folder, such as the My
Documents folder for a particular user, then it seems that
no matter what permissions I set, I cannot open that
folder on the laptop. I realize this is probably some
overzealous security "feature" of WinXP, but I really need
to get around this. How can I set up a workgroup machine
so that ANY files on that machine can be seen and opened
on the laptop which logs into the DOMAIN. (Because even if
I log into the machine at home and not the nonexistent
domain, it still does not appear that I am logging into a
workgroup. It seems that a machine is either a domain
machine or a workgroup machine, period.)

I have also tried renaming the workgroup to the same name
as the domain, but WinXP is not fooled. This was all so
much easier under Windows 2000, but I have found file
sharing to be mind boggling under WinXP. And yes, I have
turned off simple file sharing.

HELP!!!
