Thanks for the reply taurarian...

One thing I did not mention before is that I could not find a way to
do this searching Google, Google Groups, and various boards and
resources for the better part of 4 hours. I am not one to post for
help without searching for the answers to the point of exaustion...but
you had no way of knowing this, so of course I do thank you for your
efforts in assisting me..I am always grateful whenever someone takes
time to help others.

I did come across that page earlier, and I just looked over it again
to be sure, and it doesn't apply to XP as you feared. There is a way
to "break" safe mode, by messing with the reg entries for normal and
network safeboot, but as I said, I wanted a better solution if there
were one to be had. I first tried, and would have preferred, to make
it prompt for an admin password to either initialize safe mode (as in,
at the "select your boot option" menu, if you choose anything but
'boot normal', it would require an admin password before initializing
it), or at least bypass the autologon settings when entering safemode
(which would force a password prompt). Unfortunately, so far it looks
like breaking safemode completely may be the only option...
