I do not know what is up with the briefcase behavior,
but I notice you have Pro, and Pro does allow login
with Administrator without halting use of the Welcome
screen and fast user switching. You only need to press
alt-cntrl-del-del at initial login (not when there is a
switched user) to get the other login prompt. It would
however be more convenient to have Administrator listed
on the Welcome screen, and this can be done with the
TweakUI XP Powertoy (search on keyword Powertoy amd
product XP at the www.microsoft.com/downloads page).
You might want to post the file question in an Office
product related newsgroup.
