To remove GRUB or LILO installed in MBR:
If you have a bootable floppy left around from Windows 9x days, with
fdisk.exe on it -- boot from the floppy to DOS prompt, and type "fdisk
/mbr".
Otherwise, boot from the Windows XP CD, press the key "R" in the setup in
order to start the restoration console. Select your Windows XP installation
from the list, and enter the administrator password. Enter the command
"FIXMBR" at the input prompt and confirm the next question with "y". Type
"exit" when done.
I highly recommend installing the Linux bootloader in the superblock of your
/ or /boot next time you install Linux on a dual boot machine.
