i know of no functionality that does this in the default Windows XP install.
you're saying that if you enter attrib -r *.* to remove the RO bit, then at
some time in the fiuture attrib shows the RO bit is back? if that's the
case, then place an audit ACE on the file(s) in question, audit for
failed/success file and object accrss and when the RO bit comes back, take a
peek in the security log to see which process wrote to the file.
