Actually, there is a registry setting.

These are as Brendan said, administrative shares,
and can only be accessed by an account that is an
administrator on the machine. These are every bit
as tightly secured as any other sharing.

 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters
 
 Change (or create if missing) DWORD value
"AutoShareWks", and set it to 0 (zero)
