When not in a domain there are only the local users
and groups. You will need to define an account with
pwd and grant the share and ntfs permissions so that
account can get to the stuff you wish to share, and then
give that account info to those that you do want to be
able to get to the share.
As a precaution you should go into the Local Security
Option, locate the User Rights under the computer node
and list this account as Deny local logon
That way those to whom you have given the account
can only use it for access over the network.
