Has Spybot and AVG both been updated recently?
Try these if you already haven't:
Run an updated virus scan.
Run Disk Cleanup checking all boxes except "Compress old files"
Run Defrag.
If you have file sharing software such as Kazaa, disable it.

When you go to Task Manager (Ctrl/Alt/Del), what are the processes
using the most?
Is the system managing the paging file?
If no, what are the settings?
