We had the same issue. Here is what I did:

Step 1) On the XP machines go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - System
Tools - Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, choose the Old Computer option.
Step 2) Join the new domain
Step 3) Run the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard again, this time choose
the New Computer option.
