Hi,

Please note that there is a newsgroup specifically for these issues
microsoft.public.windowsupdate
Posting at that newsgroup may get help to you most rapidly,
and will help all by making sure the issue you experience is
brought to the notice of the right people.

If you have not yet you might want to see if info at this link can help
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

For repeated installation attempts, and and apparently also sometimes
for failure to install issues you might try the this
    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=326815 steps 6 - 8 then revisit WU
Apparently, after following the above it is sometimes helpful to go
into the control panel System applet and there uncheck the
"Keep my computer up to date" and Apply and then recheck and Apply

If it is a security patch update that is failing to install, then one is
supposed to be able to call 866-PCsafety for free assistance.

Finally, some time ago we received the following information :

When users access the Windows Update site no updates are available even though the Automatic Update service continues to reoffer successfully installed updates.
This is a known issue. The current workaround is to Stop/Restart the Automatic Update service via Service Manager. If the problem persists it may be due to detection conflicts in the registry and we recommend contacting Microsoft Support. http://support.microsoft.com

Additional known issues and solutions can be found on the Windows Update Troubleshooter page: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

This includes up to date information on some of the more common problems that users are running into.
