i'll try to keep this from rambling too much but i've
found a couple weird issues that i'm curious if they're
somehow related.
first, i created a digital signature using selfcert.exe
and signed some vba code in a word template. everything
was fine. the next day my network password expired and
when i went to edit the template, it said the signature
was invalid. at first, i tried to make a new signature but
selfcert would even do that. for kicks, i reset my
password back to what it was the day before and viola, it
worked again...and allowed me to edit the template.
second, (the same day), after i changed my password, i
went into sql enterprise manager and all my registered
servers were gone. i had to add them again. changing my
password back didn't fix this issue and i'm sure if i
change my password again i'll have to do this all over
again.
very weird, anyway, will looking on groups.google i found
a message regarding the first issue saying to add a key
named 'masterkeylegacynt4domain' to
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\cryptography\protect\
providers\df9d8cd0-1501-11d1-8c7a-00c04fc297eb (type:
reg_dword, value: 00000001)
this actually fixed the sql issue. (tested by changing
password again). but vba issue remained. anyone know of
another key to add to fix it or has anyone noticed either
of these problems before?
thanks.
