Does your adsl modem have an ethernet interface? If it
does it would be easy to hook it into a hub with the
other computers. However, this is the wrong way to do it.

There are two ways to go about doing it right: One
involves using one of the computers as a server for the
internet, and the other involves buying a router
(preferably with more than two ports).

The only way to use a router is if you have an ethernet
interface on the adsl modem. Plug it into the WAN side of
the router and the two computers into the other side of
the router. Then run the internet connection wizard on
bot your computers.

The other way is to hook it into one computer and install
another network card to communicate to the LAN
separately. A place where you might be going wrong is to
connect the two computers with a single regular cable.
The wires are reversed if you do it that way. Either use
two cables with a hub or switch, or use a single
crossover cable.

Windows setup: Once you have your network up and your
adsl working on one computer, use that computer and click
on the properties for your internet connection. You
should see a checkbox somewhere in the properties so that
you can share the connection. On the other machine, just
run the internet connection wizard.
